Welcome to 10QFNC, I’m Alby Nana Cady. Our guest today is the CEO of The Hamper Market. Buckle up because you’ll surely enjoy this chat.
Good morning Akosua and Welcome to 10QFNC
Goodmorning Alby . How are you?
I’m well, you?
I’m blessed 😊
Q1. Can you please tell the world who you are?
I’m Akosua Asare, sorry Mrs Tamakloe. I’m married now you know 😁. I am a very ambitious lady and a go-getter.
I currently work with an investment firm.
Oh yes “Mrs” and your wedding was fantastic
😁💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻… thanks Alby. I am also the CEO of The Hamper Market where we package bespoke hampers and gifts for clients. We have clients based in and outside the country, and have on many occasions served individuals around the world.
Q2. How did ‘The Hamper Market’ come about?
I have always had the passion for gift packaging in very creative ways for my loved ones during occasions. I received some few packages in the past and wasn’t too happy with the presentation and overall service delivery.
I then made a decision to turn my passion into making people love their gifts, so I decided to take gift packaging to a different level .
I love a good Hamper and I love to see the art and love with which it’s done hence my desire to start this venture.
Q3. Which occasion makes clients require your services mostly?
That would be Christmas. People hardly give out gifts during Easter . However, when they do, we suggest fresh natural tulips or daffodils bouquets, fancy chocolate and eggs in a box.
Or a homebody basket of scented candles, chamomile tea and inspirational books.
Q4. Mind talking about your growing up?
I grew up at Obuasi and life was good Alby. I literally had everything I wanted till my dad lost his job due to an accident. It taught me a lot of lessons and shaped me into the woman I am now. My philosophy has always been “ Work hard till you can’t no more, investment should be your hallmark & try to achieve yours, don’t rely on others”.
For my educational background, I attended Just Love School in Obuasi and proceeded to Almighty Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School– the best school in Ghana. I know most people won’t agree with me on this 😂😛.
They better agree because it’s indeed the best.
I attained my Bachelors Degree at University of Ghana reading Psychology and Linguistics
I’m proud of the woman you’ve become
Thanks Alby
Q5. What’s your fondest memory from Yagshs?
Entertainment, because I just let loose and had fun with my friends. I got super excited when there were programs at school involving a little bit of enterntainent. I love music but I can’t dance to save my life 😩.
Lolx well, your dance on your big day wasn’t bad at all
Don’t laugh at me sis 😂
Q6. What are some of the challenges that come with being a mother, wife and the career woman you are?
A lot. This can take up our whole day but I will do well to summarize it;
Ooh, let me tell you what happened the Friday before Val’s day; I had tons of orders from clients and it was almost time to pick up my daughter from school. I didnt have any other option than to call her tutor to bring her home for me at a charge. Just imagine that.
Juggling between motherhood, career and wifey duties is a tedious task. You just have to plan and make sure you are giving attention to each ie motherhood , being a wife and career. Spending some quality time with family is a must and I advise every mother out there to do it. Even if you have crucial meetings to attend, you might have to skip them just to take care of your child. Any dereliction of duty will mark you as arrogant and selfish, with society reminding you that you are neglecting your family by going to work .
God bless all working mothers . We are Super Women😁
Q7. How did you sail through your toughest moment in life?
😔 It was when I got pregnant at a young age. I was very naive Alby. I trusted people unnecessarily. I guess I have to tell you this story some other time.
Lord, it was one of my darkest moments. I thought of what people would say, I just didn’t know what to do. I overcame it by the help of my mom. I took the pregnancy to school. I didn’t defer. I always say my baby was the first degree I had 😂. Thanks to my mom, I call her my ROCK. She never criticized me but rather pushed me to go for my dreams and still keep the child. She was there every step of the way. I love you mommy❤!
Awww, I always wondered how you did it. Well done!
Q8. As beautiful as you are, there were surely many suitors so what made you say “yes, Senyo is my husband”?
He is a wonderful man. I remember the first time I met him, he said “I just don’t want to date you but rather spend the rest of my life with you”. He encourages me to be the best amidst being very supportive to my business and our daughter. I really love him.
Q9. If there’s any advice you can give a bride-to-be regarding a wedding planning, what would it be?
~Start wedding planning early. The earlier you get into it, the easier and less stressful it will be as your day approaches.
~Be selective on guests and always make sure you have a plan B. However much you don’t want to think it, something can go wrong on the day. This could be anything from a problem with catering to rain. Plan alternatives for each scenario and account for anything that might not go as planned, so you are not stressed and panicking on the big day.
~Give your groom his own responsibilities too. Listen to what he says and remember it’s his day too
~Book the best photographer ooo .
~Pick your best girls 💃🏻💃🏻. I’m sure you don’t want to look at your wedding album few years later and no longer be in touch with one of your bridesmaids. They should be your biggest support throughout the planning process so choose wisely 😉
That last point is deep;
Looking back years later and not in touch 👏🏽👏🏽
Yes sis. It’s so important so choose wisely.
Q10. St Louis Girls call Yagshs “Gey Hey wanna be”. Any reply to them?
Hahahahaha, forget them. One thing I like about Yaghs is the “grooming. They groom you to be the best. We always want to be the better version of ourselves. Forget those girls lol.
Mrs Tamakloe, we’ve come to the end of our conversation. Continue to soar higher. Any last message?
I enjoyed this, thank you. I’m so proud of you too Alby, keep it up. You know what, let send shoutouts to Wendy Kwakye, Gloria Akyena, Daisy Denise Abedi -Boateng and my family . God bless you guys. Your support is overwhelming. The Hamper Market can be contacted through social media;
